EYES UP HERE's New York City-based team works in theatre, television, and film. As a team and individually, our work as writers, directors, and producers keeps us connected to trends and emerging talents in the industry. Our work aims to capture the experiences, diverse voices, and informed perspectives that can make a safer and more just world foreveryone.  

NILOU SAFINYA

Co-Founder & Director of Production

Nilou cares about a synthesis of quality in process and product above all else. She will ensure you are thrilled with the production value of the work and feel both nurtured and creatively challenged during our collaboration. She will definitely indulge you in her passion/obsession of style and skincare tips, too. Nilou is currently Creative Producer for Where the Buffalo Roam. Nilou graduated from Columbia University and has been working as a producer in NYC for over a decade. Nilou’s many theatre credits include work with Juilliard and the award-winning, Off-Broadway Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. She has also served as the President of the Board of Directors for Noor Theatre for the past six years. Nilou’s film career began at Levantine Entertainment (Associate Producer for AMREEKA, 2009) where she served as VP of TV and film development and production for 3 years. Independently, she focuses her attention on work that highlights global and culturally diverse issues, helping to bring people together through the arts. Nilou currently has a feature film, JULIA BLUE (2016), an IFP fellowship film and Gotham Award winner, in post-production and two others in development.

NANCY VITALE

Co-Founder & Director of Creative Production

Nancy believes that great work comes from lively collaboration, honoring the multiplicity of voices in the room, and having baked goods handy. She recently served as Director of Live Events at the World Science Festival, helping to bring back a beloved cultural touchpoint for science enthusiasts around the world. Previously, she was the Senior Producer of Literary Programs at PEN America, where she produced the PEN World Voices Festival, created and produced the podcast THESE TRUTHS, and produced virtual and in-person events that responded to threats to free expression around the world. She also served as Creative Producer for the game-changing philanthropy Pop Culture Collaborative and Fuel Change, a culture change agency. She worked in Script Development at TV Land, founded and served as Producing Artistic Director of Noor Theatre, producing Food and Fadwa (New York Theatre Workshop, 2012), The Myth Project (2013, 2014), and the Highlight Reading Series. As a writer, she has developed multiple TV series, and is currently writing a short story collection that will be adapted for television. Past dramatic writing includes the commission and production of Tips to Avoid Rap(e) (NYU Steinhardt, 2015), Coal, the Musical (Little Globe, Santa Fe), Losing Her, a full-length play, Running with Sharks “Pilot,” adapted from her 2013 short film. She earned her M.F.A. in Theatre (Columbia University, School of the Arts), and a B.A. in English (Oakland University, Honors College).
